A new local RSPB Carmarthenshire group has recently been set up by volunteers from the local community and aims to organise local fundraising activities such as evening talks, coffee mornings and guided walks as well as and promote the work of the RSPB which will help to raise vital funds for the RSPB’s conservation work. The group launched its first event on 26 March, An Evening of Music inspired by Bird Song presented by local member Dr Antony Griew – bird song has inspired poets and musicians over many centuries. Their communication with potential mates, rival and predators became music to the ears of most humans. The RSPB Area Reserve Manager Lewis James also gave a talk on the Falkland Islands – Penguins, Petrels and Albatrosses, following his participation in the South Atlantic Seabird monitoring programme. The evening was a great success, not only informative but very entertaining. If anyone is interested in joining the RSPB Carmarthenshire group or would like know to about future events please contact Julie on 02920 35 3009 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
