Nevern Castle is the site of major archaeological excavations funded by Cadw, that will be phased over the next 10 years. The site is also in a very interesting area for bats: Pembs BG would like to take the opportunity to find out whether or not it is being used by bats, and if so which species are involved. Some tree work will be required to safeguard the monument, and any information on how bats are likely to be using the site will help us to integrate species conservation into the management of the site. Any/all members of the bat group would be most welcome to take part. Details of the visit are as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 2nd September 2009
Time: 19.30 hrs
Where: meet at the entrance to the site, grid ref ca. SN 082402. The site is just to the north of Nevern. Space for car parking is a bit limited, so if any from the south would like to come, it would be useful to share cars (if anyone is interested, please contact Jane Hodges directly on the details below)
Other information: This visit is likely to be followed by a second visit later on in September, details of which can be agreed on the 2nd September. Members of the Teifi group may also be able to come.
