There are 2 national fungi bodies in Britain – these will tell you most of what you might need to know about the biology & conservation of fungi, the terminology & literature, and how to collect & study them.

1   Link   The British Mycological Society (BMS)
This is the principal society with various publications including ‘Field Mycology’.
From the www page, click on ‘resources’ then go to ‘Fungal Records Database of Britain and Ireland (FRDBI) where you can find records of fungi and distribution maps by ‘genus’.
2   Link   Association of British Fungus Groups (ABFG)
This is a more recent society set up by Michael Jordan. ABFG members receive a magazine, ‘The Forayer’.
3   Link   Pembrokeshire Fungus Recording Network
David Harries farms near Pembroke and has been interested in fungi for just a few years but has developed a keen interest in grassland fungi in particular. He has also organised some short workshops with expert tutors and produces a regular newsletter.
